Mark Clayton: We Were Showtime

Mark Clayton: We Were Showtime

Miami Dolphins Tales From The Deep

Mark Clayton landed in Miami as an unheralded eighth-round draft choice in 1983, a member of the same draft class as Dan Marino. Following a quiet rookie season, Clayton joined Marino in re-writing NFL record books, hauling in 18 of Marino’s 48 touchdown passes to set a new single-season league record. Clayton paired with Mark Duper to form the popular “Marks Brothers” and became the most prolific wide receiver in team history, as well as one of the most dominant in league annals. In The Tank, Clayton discusses that magical 1984 season, his love for playing hard, both on and off the field, why he feels he deserves a bust in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, trash talking with Don Shula, and the circumstances that led him to refer to the legendary Head Coach as “the fat man” following a game against the San Francisco 49ers.
