Mark Higgs: The Lawn Mower

Mark Higgs: The Lawn Mower

Miami Dolphins Tales From The Deep

Following a standout career at the University of Kentucky, running back Mark Higgs wasn’t selected until the eighth round of the 1988 NFL Draft, in part due to his small stature, standing only 5 feet 7 inches tall.  Higgs moved on to Philadelphia after only one year in Dallas, and then a year later joined the Miami Dolphins where he climbed the depth chart to eventually become the team’s leading rusher for three straight seasons. Affectionately referred to as “Higgy” he quickly became a fan-favorite in Miami. In The Tank, Higgs shares how it was more than just his size that set him back in the draft, discusses the differences between the three legendary Head Coaches (Don Shula, Tom Landry and Buddy Ryan) he played under during his NFL career, reveals the nickname Buddy Ryan gave him before he earned the Higgy moniker, continues to dread the 12-minute run, and explains why he was so popular on team flights.
