Brendon Ayanbadejo relentlessly pursued his NFL dream through eight different teams in four different leagues over a four-year period before finally earning his seat at the table with the Miami Dolphins in 2003, joining a roster that also featured his brother, Obafemi. The chase was worth it as Ayanbadejo became one of the top special teams players in the league, was selected to three Pro Bowls, named All-Pro twice, and appeared in two Super Bowls, capturing a championship with the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII. His impact has been felt far beyond the gridiron, however, through his staunch advocacy for LGBTQ rights.

Akin Ayodele’s journey to the National Football League was anything but easy. The Dallas, Texas native overcame a multitude of obstacles to become a three-time All-Big Ten performer for Purdue University on his way to finishing second on the Boilermakers all-time sack list with 29 in just three seasons. A third-round draft choice by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Ayodele played nine NFL seasons at linebacker, including 2008 and 2009 with the Miami Dolphins. Ayodele retired following the 2010 season and has been every bit as impactful in corporate America, in the community through his Dreambuilders Foundation, and most importantly, at home with his wife and daughters.

Despite being the only fullback invited to the 2019 NFL Combine, Alec Ingold went undrafted and actually accepted a job offer from a tech company before finally receiving a call from the Oakland Raiders. Ingold went on to become a key contributor to the Raiders offense and was named a team captain in his third year, however a torn ACL ended his season and eventually his tenure in silver and black. Ingold did not skip a beat, however, signing with the Miami Dolphins this offseason and has been making an impact on and off the field ever since.
In The Tank, Alec raves about being a part of the Dolphins explosive offense (3:34) and relishes this opportunity to “reinvent” the fullback position (6:24). He goes on to explain how being passed over in the draft forced him to develop a drive that still fuels him to this day (10:59). Alec also opens up about being adopted and the internal struggle associated with that experience (14:49), and proudly discusses his Ingold Foundation, its programs, and his passion for impacting young people (19:14), while explaining his goals for community work in South Florida (23:24). Miami’s starting fullback also looks back on his ACL injury, the affect it had on him, and how he chose to respond to it, (26:36), before wrapping up the interview with The Fish Tank Two-Minute Drill (32:40).
