The Miami Dolphins are 0-5, Malik Willis is coming off his most disappointing performance of the season, and Dolphins fans are growing increasingly frustrated. But here's the reality: Malik Willis isn't going anywhere.
On this week's Fish Tank x DolphinsTalk Crossover, O.J. McDuffie, Seth Levit and DolphinsTalk's Mike Oliva take an honest look at Miami's struggling quarterback, the growing concerns surrounding his decision-making, and why Jeff Hafley and the Dolphins appear committed to giving Willis every opportunity to prove he can be their quarterback of the future.
After five games, Willis has struggled with accuracy, missed open receivers and repeatedly passed up shorter completions in pursuit of big plays. As Juice explains, sometimes the smartest play isn't the spectacular one. It's about being "needy, not greedy" and keeping the chains moving.
The guys debate whether Willis is pressing too hard to prove himself, how Bobby Slowik can help put him in better situations, and whether the upcoming bye week could provide the reset Miami's offense desperately needs.
Plus, Mike explains why Willis's contract shouldn't concern Dolphins fans nearly as much as his performance, why turning to rookie Kyle McCord isn't the answer right now, and why the 2027 NFL Draft may not offer the quarterback solution some fans are hoping for.
And despite the Dolphins' 0-5 record, there ARE reasons for optimism. The guys highlight the development of young players like Ollie Gordon II, Jacob Rodriguez, Kadyn Proctor and Chris Johnson, and discuss why Miami may already be building the foundation for a much brighter future.
They also tackle the importance of continuity in Bobby Slowik's offense, Miami's ongoing special teams problems, and a newly surfaced report concerning former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores.
Five games down. Twelve to go. Malik Willis is still the Dolphins' quarterback. The question is whether he can become the quarterback Miami needs him to be.
🐬 Dolphins fans, what do YOU think? Should Miami stick with Malik Willis through the growing pains, or have you already seen enough?
