[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, you see, you have to cut a certain amount of players, but claiming seven guys off of waivers and, and, and I think that it's going to continue to turn a lot to cover. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm going to start with Tyrell dots and being released and is it in some ways it's not a shock in some ways it is I think some of the handwriting was on the wall Back in April one of my army drafted three linebackers in the draft even with Kyle Lewis now playing some safety and train more hurt I think at the end of the day big picture there really wasn't a need for Tyrell dots in and then you factor in [SPEAKER_03]: Jacob Rodriguez having a strong camp and he seems to be every one he seems to be the guy everyone thought he would be and we just heard Jeff Hathley speak in the last half hour so he was gushing over Jacob Rodriguez gushing over the rookie so when you factor that in and Tyrell's making $3 million final year of his deal they probably weren't going to resign him after this year every snap he's on the field he's blocking the progress of a [SPEAKER_03]: But I'm still a little surprised because, again, Traymore's hurt, Kylo's is playing some safety.

[SPEAKER_03]: They could have possibly traded them, but this past week and like 200 linebackers were cut, no one's gonna trade for $3 million contract. [SPEAKER_03]: It is what it is. [SPEAKER_03]: So they had a lot of them go. [SPEAKER_03]: But that one would probably be my pick for like the most surprising. [SPEAKER_02]: And look, he signed to the practice squad of Carolina.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's not like they just got rid of, you know, [SPEAKER_02]: He was a nice player, I think there was some things he did well, some things maybe he didn't do as well. [SPEAKER_02]: If this had been a Jordan Brooks cut, then like let's be up at arms about this, but when you draft three linebackers, and then you sign more in the off season, you see guys making plays and you got a guy who doesn't play special teams, [SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's been fun to make the Jack Dale Rio.

[SPEAKER_02]: But one more parallel is that idea of a veteran player who was now Tyrell Dawson was already here, but who was respected by the head coach. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, running 44, 61, probably two, you know, little over two hundred, you know, 190, 190, two pounds, vertical was crazy. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, he ran on the four by two, you know, and broke some records there. [SPEAKER_00]: So, it's Steve was in trouble. [SPEAKER_00]: Matter of fact, I really killed him and said he was the second fast dude on the team. [SPEAKER_00]: He did, you know, and that right there was already, like, all right, we got it.

8:26 [SPEAKER_00]: We got a Jason Seedhorn here. [SPEAKER_00]: He's there, we got there and he could probably play. [SPEAKER_00]: But then we kept seeing him not playing. [SPEAKER_00]: We saw hamstring injuries. [SPEAKER_00]: We saw all kinds of things like that. [SPEAKER_00]: But then we saw him do, he didn't make the 53 initially. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: But then when he was off the 53 after that, that's when I was like, damn. [SPEAKER_00]: Because we heard him can't be accepted. [SPEAKER_00]: He might be the fourth best corner on the team. [SPEAKER_02]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: How do you get rid of the fourth best corner on the team? [SPEAKER_00]: If that's the case, that's a lot of been the case in my opinion. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, because they went out and got other guys to take over that position, man. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, Ethan, who obviously is a great guy, you know, great athlete. [SPEAKER_00]: hamstrings. [SPEAKER_00]: They don't go away.

9:07 [SPEAKER_00]: I play with a guy named Gary Clark who had hamstring problems and they used to shoot them up and wrap them up and they never went away. [SPEAKER_00]: So once you start having some tough, tough tissue issues, tough tissue issues, how about that? [SPEAKER_00]: That was pretty good. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, it could become a problem, you know, but uh, you know, I got even had a solid camp, but I watched that last game and his reaction time was was off. [SPEAKER_00]: his, you know, he never really, we never really saw how fast he was on the football field. [SPEAKER_00]: And that, you know, I don't care how fast you are. [SPEAKER_00]: If it doesn't translate in the game, then who gives it down? [SPEAKER_00]: You know, so yeah, see, and he can go with kind of a, you know, a tough global, so I thought he was having a solid camp, but at the same time, no, watching that last game, [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he, the ball was out.

9:55 [SPEAKER_00]: He was still on his back pedal sometimes, you know. [SPEAKER_00]: And that happens a lot of times with some of these DBs, but damn, you got to anticipate. [SPEAKER_00]: You see a guy running an outrow, jump that thing, man. [SPEAKER_00]: You got to make a play in order to survive in this game. [SPEAKER_00]: And I didn't see him in any play. [SPEAKER_00]: One interception, I think, and maybe a force fumble throughout, you know, his whole career here in the last three years. [SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, but I was, I was hopeful for Ethan, you know, Barnard, and obviously that didn't work out for it. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so two things one I guess is a question for you when you've got a guy with with those types of measurements, who's that athletic, but he seems to be a step late every time is that is that the mental part of the game is that I mean anticipation or just reading what's happening out there, what do you think that is well you know the best corners man instincts [SPEAKER_00]: You know, a part of it, he was just, I think he was just too conservative with it.

10:47 [SPEAKER_00]: You know, you got to be, you got to be T-book out there sometime. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, you got to be opposite of conservative. [SPEAKER_00]: You got to, you got to just say, you know what? [SPEAKER_00]: I got help over the top. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm jumping this thing, you know? [SPEAKER_00]: It most of the time they've got help, he went on the island. [SPEAKER_00]: They're not, they weren't in coverage zero. [SPEAKER_00]: We're just no help, and you got to keep everything in front of you. [SPEAKER_00]: You got to, you got to be instinctive. [SPEAKER_00]: And somebody breaks on an out, you got to dig on that thing, man. [SPEAKER_00]: You seem like more, he was just playing catch, you know? [SPEAKER_00]: Once they catch it, I'm just gonna, I'm just gonna tackle it instead of breaking on that thing and taking it 84 touchdown. [SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm gonna catch even at that point? [SPEAKER_00]: Right, you know? [SPEAKER_00]: So I think that, I think that was the thing, man. [SPEAKER_00]: He was very, very relaxed and conservative in this approach at corner and corner, honestly, like Sam and all those, you got to be aggressive out there.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can't just sit there and just tackle do four or five, six, seven, 10-yard game. [SPEAKER_00]: That's not how it works on the edge. [SPEAKER_02]: And I, you know, he clearly was very well-liked and respected by his teammates. [SPEAKER_02]: I think we heard that over the years the way they would talk about him. [SPEAKER_02]: And, and, and, you know, previous coaching staffs and so on, but he, I kind of got a Tanner Conner vibe out, you know, a guy who's here never really got on the field during the regular season. [SPEAKER_02]: You heard all these things about how athletic he was and how productive he was in camp and, and everything else. [SPEAKER_02]: But then ultimately, we never got to cheer for the guy as a Miami Dolphin player during the season or very rarely did, you know, and fairness to him, he lasted long in the Tanner Conner did, but it was like, how long can you hang on and never really produce, you know, so that's a potential word, right, Big Seth, Big O, Big O, P word.

12:33 [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it lasts a long, it only lasts so long, especially when there's a change in regimes, right? [SPEAKER_02]: You know, so, so for me, what stood out is, is a carousel of moves, and that's the dolphins back up quarterback position. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, and it has been, [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you know, go on Twitter, they'll tell you not since Matt Moore has there been a dolphin's back up quarterback that people have felt good about. [SPEAKER_02]: But interestingly enough, we entered this season with a guy who unseated to a tongue of Iloa and can you imagine a world that there was a chance gentlemen that we would have started this season. [SPEAKER_02]: There was a chance in a, and I don't like multiverse movies, by the way.

[SPEAKER_02]: But can you imagine a world where we could have been talking today on this Tuesday leading in to get me excited about the regular season where Mike McDonald is still your head coach and Quinn yours is your starting quarterback because that was the plan that was the plan until it wasn't the plan. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's not the plan any longer. [SPEAKER_02]: We know Malik Willis is here and he's not going anywhere, knock on wood and everything else, cause it, you know, we're excited about Malik Willis. [SPEAKER_02]: Clearly, John Erick Sullivan and Jeff Haffley are excited about Malik Willis, but they didn't feel the same way about their backup quarterbacks.

13:57 [SPEAKER_02]: So on the outs, [SPEAKER_02]: When you were traded to Jacksonville, Cam Miller, who was signed back in January off the Raiders practice squad, gone. [SPEAKER_02]: Out in, I guess you would call it, right? [SPEAKER_02]: Mark Bernowski brought him in as an undrafted rookie free agent. [SPEAKER_02]: gone, but now he's on the practice squad, but don't worry. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how many I don't know if he wraps you going to get on that practice squad mark because they trade for Kyle McCord, which I know Mike's going to be able to talk to us a lot about Kyle McCord having watched him at Syracuse and then they also claim off of waivers Brady Cook from the Jets. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to start in reverse here and this is I probably the New York Jets last year.

14:39 [SPEAKER_02]: If Brady Cook couldn't make the New York Jets roster as a quarterback [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't have high hopes there and might be a great guy. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know Brady Cook. [SPEAKER_02]: I haven't really followed his career. [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm not trying to be a disrespectful jerk. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm just saying that Jets quarterback situation was rough. [SPEAKER_02]: And so the fact that the Jets felt that they had three quarterbacks or however many better than Brady Cook should be interesting to see what happens there. [SPEAKER_02]: But the most interesting piece out of all of this is Kyle McCord, right? [SPEAKER_02]: Kyle McCord. [SPEAKER_02]: was the guy who was with the Eagles, then he was on their practice squad, we know there's some familiarity with the dolphins coaching staff now.

15:19 [SPEAKER_02]: And [SPEAKER_02]: Shocker gentlemen, he was with the Packers, and that's where the trade comes. [SPEAKER_02]: Now, John Air Sullivan was gone by the time that Kyle court ends up in Green Bay, but that was like two weeks. [SPEAKER_02]: There's like, what two or three weeks difference, you can't tell me that that solely didn't spend some time watching some Kyle McCord tape and wasn't part of that process when Green Bay decided this is guy who could be here. [SPEAKER_02]: So they obviously feel good about him to the point where [SPEAKER_02]: We just heard Hathley say he's going into the season as the number two quarterback, you know, if, if, if, if for whatever reason, melequils has to come out, they're expecting comical to jump in there. [SPEAKER_02]: I think all of this is is what stood out to me the most and wouldn't you know it.

16:04 [SPEAKER_02]: Joe Milton gets casualties. [SPEAKER_02]: And so now the entire of his nation is one Joe Milton watch as well. [SPEAKER_02]: The back of quarterback situation for the Miami dolphins is maybe as interesting and exciting and tenuous as it's been in a long time. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Always the most popular guy in the team. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, and McCord had what what a preseason, right? [SPEAKER_02]: I think he had the most productive policies in the many quarterback in the league. [SPEAKER_03]: It was sensational. [SPEAKER_02]: Look, I saw him for what it's worth. [SPEAKER_03]: For one year appeared Syracuse, but it was a hell of a year yet at Syracuse. [SPEAKER_03]: And here's the thing I always say, you know, he got a raw deal at Ohio State. [SPEAKER_03]: In his last year there, he was 11 and one is a starter. [SPEAKER_03]: He threw 24 touchdowns six interceptions wasn't good enough.

16:47 [SPEAKER_03]: Now the problem is Ohio state like a lot of the schools in the SEC and a couple schools in a big time have these unrealistic expectations where if you don't win the national championship every year, you stink you got to go. [SPEAKER_03]: and the kid was 11 and one and they pinned everything on him. [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, okay, they lost a Michigan one to get him a break. [SPEAKER_03]: It's like it's not his fault, you know, but he came here to Syracuse, which again, not a football powerhouse these days, had less weapons around him to throw too, lesser offensive linemen in front of him, went 10 and 3, led the nation in passing, [SPEAKER_03]: And that dude, what I saw, and I haven't watched in a while, he plays with a chip on a shoulder because of everything that happened in Ohio State.

17:30 [SPEAKER_03]: So he's coming here with a chip on a shoulder again, is he going to be a starting quarterback something? [SPEAKER_03]: No. [SPEAKER_03]: But I think he can be a solid QB2. [SPEAKER_03]: I like him a little more than 20 years. [SPEAKER_03]: I like the trade is all I'm saying because there's I think there's more there to work with with with him. [SPEAKER_03]: than Quinn. [SPEAKER_03]: He hasn't had Quinn's hit a lot. [SPEAKER_03]: He's been hurt a lot from his time and when he was at Ohio State and when he was at Texas. [SPEAKER_03]: So if I'm a court's like never been hurt either. [SPEAKER_03]: So I just think there's more upside there so I like to trade in that regard. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm not saying he's going to be an oral quarterback or anything. [SPEAKER_03]: So I like to move it. [SPEAKER_03]: I think that kids got he's got some moxie to him, which is we like moxie to the quarterback.

[SPEAKER_02]: But when I interned for the Cleveland Cavaliers shout out to Cleveland Green Road, baby, my guy Bob Zanko was my mentor. [SPEAKER_02]: His son Lance was, you know, he ultimately went to high school and played quarterback and they named their dog Moxie because they felt like quarterback needs to have Moxie, right? [SPEAKER_02]: So they named their dog. [SPEAKER_02]: So shout out to Lambsink and Moxie. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, and I just wonder if McCord seemed like he has that mighty, what's kind of what our current quarterback has. [SPEAKER_00]: Don't think that they don't look at what, you know, what they get out of Malik Willis and what that same guy, you know, you see so many times.

18:52 [SPEAKER_00]: How many times you've seen where you've got a quarterback that's your starter, your QB1, and their QB2 is a different style quarterback. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: How do you go in there and try to run the same offense and the whole thing if you don't have that same moxy in your backup that you and and skill set that you have in your starter now it's not as good as Malik will us obviously, but if he's got the ability to run the rock he's got that dog in him, you know, he's got an arm I mean, that's you want to try to pair it your your starter as much as you can. [SPEAKER_00]: So you don't fall off too much when it comes to. [SPEAKER_00]: If you have to enforce it, they have to take you out of game or two. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, we've seen that so many times where you got, we had hunkly come in and he started like almost right away and it completely different skillsets, learn new playbook, all different things.

19:41 [SPEAKER_00]: You really need to have your quarterback, you could be two being similar. [SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, not as good obviously, similar to your QB1, so that you don't have to change everything completely when you have to go to them, you know, in an emergency situation. [SPEAKER_02]: And I mean, how can we not we can joke about the reading bay I just heard Dave Hyde on his new podcast nothing to hide said he referred to the Dolphins of the Biscayn Bay Packers now is that is what that was for the least yeah I thought that was pretty funny to this game Bay Packers, but how can you not respect the quarterback evaluations over the last you know however many decades I mean they've just [SPEAKER_02]: at some point it's beyond being just lucky and they've not only found players that can play the position, but they've they've figured out the right times to get guys in here.

20:32 [SPEAKER_02]: And so if they see this and we heard John Erick Sullivan, he talked about it, but you know, bring a guy in, let him watch the guy in front of him, let him learn, let him process, well, that elevate his game, and it seems like that's their vision with McCord. [SPEAKER_02]: But what I really love is, man, you talk about straight talk. [SPEAKER_02]: I know you had to love this juice. [SPEAKER_02]: They asked him about the quarterback play, and he basically said it wasn't good enough. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, I like all those guys. [SPEAKER_02]: This is not taking away from how hard they were. [SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't good enough. [SPEAKER_02]: Quinn viewers. [SPEAKER_02]: We had high expectations for him.
